Slide Liberia

In July of 2006 a small tribe of wave riders and surf journalist, bypassed all international travel warnings going deep into West Africa. The group consisted of the multi talented Dan Malloy, Hawaiian water girl Crystal Thornberg, artist and surfer Chris Del Moro, civil war hell man Nicholai Lidow, film guru Dave Homcy, Director Britt Caolette and legend surf photographer Ted Grambeau. The trip was an incredible was a testament of 3rd world travel and persistence. In the end the group stumbled onto a world class left hand point set up that allowed for weeks of solo sessions and tube rides.

While in Liberia the crew was able to help stoke out the local community of children and elders, by teaching them the art of surf riding. The Liberian children were natural watermen and often would be seen dropping into well overhead lefts, screaming and sliding in joy. The crew had an amazing trip, everyone learned invaluable teachings about life and we scored incredible surf. Have a look at some Photos to help tell the journey through visual stimulation.
